Waiting for a boat
Long exposure at a jetty on Derwent Water near Keswick in the Lake district at sunset. About 10 minutes after I took this image the heavens opened. Such a peaceful spot, there was only one other photographer there at the time
Boscombe Pier
This pier is loctaed in Boscombe at the east side of Bournemouth, it was refurbished in 2008 and won 'Pier of the Year' in 2010. There have been several issues with the pier in recent years including hairline fractures of each of the concrete support piles plus lights that leak rainwater shorting out the electrics. I think the Victorians may have done a better job building piers.
Criffel Hill Sunset Eruption
The view of Criffel hill in Dumfries & Galloway with sun setting over it's peak. Viewed over the Solway Firth from Silloth in Cumbria
Sunset Stacks
The sun setting over the decaying timber stacks of the old jetty at Mearsehead on the Solway Coast, South West Scotland
Stacking Up
A long exposure image showing dynamic motion of the clouds and some slight blurring of the water around the remains of the old jetty at Mearsehead on the Solway coast, South West Scotland.
Lighting the Sky
The grade II listed 'Low Lighthouse' at Burnham on Sea, Somerset. Captured on an evening when there was a particulalrly vibrant sunset. I actually toned the colours down a bit! Caught the shadows from the legs nicely.
Evening at the Pier
The soft, warm amber glow over Clevedon pier moments after sunset on an April evening.
Capenoch Rocks
The Scaur water flowing through the old rocks at Capenoch, near Penpont in South West Scotland
Clifton Suspension Bridge
Completed in 1864, the grade 1 listed Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by engineering genius Isambard Kingdom Brunel, spans the River Avon and Avon Gorge linking Clifton in Bristol with Leigh Woods in North Somerset
Into the blue
Boscombe Pier near Bournemouth in the blue hour, with the last glow of a November sunset.
The Tree & The Tower
A shot of a tree growing in Lake Vyrnwy with the Gothic straining tower in the background as a contrast against natures beauty. A polariser was used to 'see' through the water, whilst a longer exposure helped both soften the water and give motion to the clouds
Gullane Rockpools
Rockpools at Gullane Beach, near Edinburgh, in the early evening autumn sun. I was waiting for a friend to arrive as we were giong to do a sunset shoot, but took the opportunity to capture these pools in the warm glow of the evening sun
The Blocks
'The Blocks' otherwise known as 'the zig zag pier' is a concrete breakwater at St Monans in the East Nuek of Fife. For over a century it has helped shelter and calm the waters into the main harbour.
Langdale Valley
View down Langdale Valley looking towards Bowfell and Crinkle Crags in the Lake District. I was lucky to get some great sunlight on the hillsides before the coulds rolled in
The Forth Contrast
The Forth Rail Bridge in the late evening, with the Road bridge in the background and the new road bridge under construction beyond that. Contrasts between old and new, plus the weather with the dark clouds moving over the sun and the blue skiy.
