Brothers
Two stones standing together watching over the Ring of Brodgar, Stenness, Orkney. The early morning sun bright against the outside of the stones, whilst they cast a lovely long shadow into the ring
Sun in the bay
Sun rising over Firth Bay, Orkney, with Wideford Hill in the Background. The sun has risen over the hill and the vibrant red has gone, replaced by thw warm organge glow and moody lighting in the clouds.
Fire over Finstown
A fiery red sunrise over Firth Bay, Finstown, Orkney. This was a chance sunrise that I just happened to be at the right pace at the right time. Taken before the sun rose too high over the horizon so the vibrant red is at it's peak.
Sun over Brodgar
Sun rising over the world famous stoneage site the Ring of Brodgar, Stenness, Orkney. Long shadows from the standing stones created by the low sun give a real depth to the image
The Stones
The milky way and a very subtle light show from the northern lights over some of the standing stones at the Ring of Brodgar, Orkney. It was a real shame the clouds came behind the stones.
Yesnaby Cliffs
The cliffs at Yesnaby, Orkney, looking out to the North Atlantics. This rugged coastline has been eroded by the sea over time to create the stunning sea stacks and natural rock formations. The land at the top of the cliffs is very fertile and is routinely farmed.
Yesnaby Stack
The rugged stack, known as 'the castle' is part of the stunning coastal rocks and cliffs at Yesnaby, Orkney. These are on the west coast of the mainland looking out to the North Atlantic. Further along this coast are the very exposed lookout posts used through the wars
