I'm an enthusiastic amateur photographer based in the small town of Lochmaben in Dumfries & Galloway. Being located here allows a wide and diverse range of both scenery and weather providing excellent photographic opportunities. As photography is my hobby I also have to work, luckily this takes me all over the UK providing me with yet more subjects. I have met lots of other photographers on these trips and been rewarded with new friends and great advice on the best locations.
Having picked up a DSLR for the first time a couple of years ago, I have only recently started out on my photography journey and found it to be a steep but satisfying learning curve. We've all taken 'snaps' and left the camera to do all the work, but a year ago I started to consider what I was actually doing with my camera, started to use more of the controls and really look at the world around me in order to get a better composition. It's not only given me a better understanding of photography but also more appreciation for the beauty of our surroundings.
I'm naturally drawn to coastal landscapes and wide vistas but am also happy to photograph ancient castles and abbeys of which there are an abundance around the UK. More recently I have began to visit coastal towns to search out lighthouses and piers. As time progresses my galleries will grow and I would invite you to join me and enjoy the new photographs as they arrive. There is also a gallery from the 2014 Goodwood Revival meeting with some historic racing vehicles, another interest of mine.
A new service that I am providing is equine portraits, if you live in the South of Scotland and would like an original portrait of your beloved horse, pony, foal or anything horsey just contact me via email or call me (see the contact page) to discuss what you would like.
Feel free to browse the galleries, all images are available to buy as prints or wall art in various sizes, why not have a stunning landscape or seascape on your wall.
